Cuba won the gold medal in El Salvador

SAN SALVADOR, July 5, 2008.- Cuba defeated Canada 3-1 and won the gold medal of the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship held at the Sports Palace in this city.

 

The sets finished 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, 29-27, with reserve outside hitter Armando Danger, who had not play in any previous matches, finishing the night with 20 points.

 

“He had not played because the starter at the position was doing very well, but we also had him as a surprise player for all those who didn’t know him,” said Cuban coach, Juan Carlos Gala.

 

“En some moment we complicated things ourserlves, our guys lost the concentration, but we know we were going to be back to normalita,” he explained.

 

Rolando Cepeda followed Danger with 16 points and Fernando Hernandez had 10.

 

The Canadians had Jason DeRocco with 14 points and Joren Zeeman and Gordon Perrin each had 12.
